In my search for sources that connected childhood obesity and TV advertising of food, some interesting results were found. According to a variety of statistics in the sources, there is a potential link. Not only are fast food and junk food companies two of the highest advertisers of American television, some of the channels they advertise on are networks known to be watched by children. There is also a study that proves a correlation between childhood obesity and TV watching. There is also a great deal of media coverage on this topic, especially local. Certain towns and cities are making strides to reduce the risk of obesity in their children. Even federal measures have been taken in an attempt to keep children healthy.
